Students No Longer Permitted to Use Personal Mobile Devices During Instructional Time

Trades training is critical to the growth and success of Southeast Alberta and Medicine Hat College (MHC) is proud to recognize its students, faculty and industry partners as part of Alberta’s Apprenticeship Appreciation Day on Sept. 23.

The Agricultural Discovery Centre (ADC) at Irvine School is wrapping up their season. Two steers, donated to the ADC by Short Grass Ranches, were sold by live auction at the Medicine Hat Feeding Company. The following day, the ADC held a student organized fall fair with activities, a farmer’s market to sell off ADC produce and an in-house auction to sell two lambs, two hogs and 13 chickens. Students will continue learning throughout the winter with the AgPro courses and the ADC will hold a comedy night fundraiser at the Monarch Theatre on December 14.

Community members looking to start or change careers will once again be given the opportunity to meet with employers at Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) annual Career Expo on Oct. 2, 2024.

Medicine Hat College (MHC), Miywasin Friendship Centre and the Firekeepers Women’s Society, are hosting their third annual community event in support of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30.

A rainbow of activity will colour Medicine Hat College (MHC) campuses from September 16-20 in honour of Pride Week, promoting an environment of inclusivity, equality and learning in support of the LGBTQ2S+ community.

Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) Extended Learning department is launching a Front Desk Fundamentals Program this fall in collaboration with the Medicine Hat Accommodation Association (MHAA) and the Government of Alberta (GOA).

Those with aspirations to travel, earn extra credits and gain a new perspective, may find an open door with the study abroad program at Medicine Hat College (MHC). With opportunities to spend their summers in South Korea, India, and Japan, twelve students are about to discover this for themselves.

Daina Dixson is this year’s valedictorian for Foremost School and will be attending Lethbridge College in the fall for agronomy and agricultural business. Dixson, like her parents and grandparents before her, has spent all her grade school years at Foremost School and said it was a bittersweet experience to be graduating.

For six weeks this spring, Burdett School reserved Friday afternoons for softball. The school was split into three divisions by grade level and two divisions got to play each week. For those who were not interested in playing the game, there were sessions to learn how to be an umpire or students could help with scorekeeping.

Teachers at Warren Peers School needed to come up with different options for students at the school this year. With access to the great facility at the Acadia Valley Community Hall, the students in the class learned how to smoke meat, make sausage, cook traditional foods and had a food truck experience where they served a variety of hotdogs to students and staff.
