Van Mulligen Invited To Oilers Rookie Camp
Tigers defenceman & Medicine Hat product Josh Van Mulligen, 18, has been invited to Edmonton Oilers rookie camp in Penticton, BC. next month.
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Tigers defenceman & Medicine Hat product Josh Van Mulligen, 18, has been invited to Edmonton Oilers rookie camp in Penticton, BC. next month.
Van Mulligen completed his rookie season with the Tigers in 2022-23 suiting up in all 68 games while notching one goal & eight assists with a +/- of +16. Josh also participated in Edmonton’s Development Camp in July.
The local defenceman says he can’t wait to head back to Edmonton’s camp for the fall.
“I’m extremely excited and gratefu to get to experience another camp ad to hopefully get in a couple games. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Van Mulligen has played in 81 career Western Hockey League games scoring three times with nine assists and hope this experience with the Oilers will help his development with the Tigers for the coming 2023-2024 season.
“The Oilers told me right near the end of development camp in my exit interview that I’d be going to Penticton,” he says. “It’s definitely an exciting feeling and something to look forward to during the offseason.”
Van Mulligen will be at Tigers training camp before heading off to Penticton for the Young Stars Classic at the South Okanagan Events Centre from September 15-18.
The Tigers open the pre-season schedule Tuesday, September 5 at Lethbridge before hosting the Hurricanes at Co-op Place on Saturday, September 9 at 7 PM. Medicine Hat wraps up the pre-season the following week on Friday, September 15 in Swift Current and Saturday, September 16 at home at 7 PM.
The regular season opens for the Tigers with a home-at-home series with the Calgary Hitmen first at the Scotiabank Saddledome Friday, September 22 before the home opener Saturday, September 23 at Co-op Place.
