Trail section closed for snow removal safety concerns
November 27, 2024

Medicine Hat – Starting Wednesday, November 27, a section of trail in Northeast Crescent Heights, commonly referred to as the Goat Path, will be closed until further notice due to an inability to safely perform snow removal.
This narrow section of trail with steep edges has sections with a grade above 25 per cent. After operating to the best of their ability in previous winters, Parks and Recreation staff have identified that performing snow removal on this section of trail has become increasingly difficult. The amount of slope prevents safe, reliable snow removal with existing equipment and methods. Residents are asked to obey posted signage and barricades.
During this closure, residents still have several ways to get between Northeast Crescent Heights and the bottom of Parkview Drive NE, as shown in the attached map:

Parks and Recreation staff continue to investigate other potential ways to safely perform snow removal on this section of trail. The City will provide updates if a safe method has been identified which would allow the trail to re-open.
The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank residents for their understanding as staff safety is prioritized during this closure.
